Keith Fulk's Bio -

Longtime Steamboat resident Keith Fulk knows aspens better than any avid mountain and forest lovers in town.

About once a month, with his safety goggles on and chainsaw in hand, Keith searches to find the perfect shaped
aspen log for a bed frame or table he has envisioned.

Keith has been building and designing log furniture in Steamboat for more than four years.

His Family-owned and operated aspen furniture business has allowed Keith to build a substantial rapport with
the community of
Steamboat Springs.

Typically, he gathers the aspens on private property in and around Steamboat. Many people who are looking
for various pieces from Keith, or those  who just need a forest clean-up, ask him to haul wood away.

Aspen's, the most widely distributed tree in America, take about two years to completely dry out. For Keith,
being ecologically-friendly is important. He makes sure each aspen he chooses is dead-standing. Each piece
of furniture or accessory is unique due to the varying shades, knots, and worm impressions in the wood.

First, Keith picks the specific piece of wood that fits the job. He then cuts the aspen as needed and designs
each piece log by log. He sands the wood two different times at different grains and assembles the pieces.
He uses glue and log bolts to hold each piece in place and then sands again. Keith uses a sanding sealant to give
each piece a refined natural look. Finally, he sands
the wood again and adds a polyurethane coat to complete it.

Keith can custom design any piece to fit your particular needs. He designs bedroom and baby room sets, bunk
beds, and dining room tables, benches and chairs. He uses a special outdoor polyurethane for those outdoor
pieces that add rustic mountain flair to your backdoor patio. Accessories by Keith include lamps, mirrors, picture
frames, vanity shelves, and coat racks.

Although he spends most of his time sanding and perfecting each log of his home, you can also see a lot of Keith's work in his partner shop, Freestyle Design, in the Torian Plum Plaza. Check out his work at Steamboat's
annual Art in the Park, Torium Plum Art walk, Art on the Mountain, and the Horizon's for the Hand Fair. Contact him for discount packages he offers.
